CONTEMPORARY HISTORY
Oral examination.
The exam is divided into a first phase dedicated to the general part of the exam, starting from a theme chosen by the candidate, and an in-depth examination related to the history of Sardinia, didactics and texts read. Knowledge of general history is an essential condition for passing the exam.
The evaluation expressed on the short written paper is part of the overall final evaluation.
- Critical university-level knowledge of the main thematic nodes related to world history (and in particular to the history of Italy) from the 19th century to the beginning of the 21st.
- Knowledge of the main features of the history of Sardinia in the 20th century.
- Knowledge of the main themes related to the didactics of History, particularly in relation to the Italian civil calendar.
- Mastery and relevant use of definitions and terminology specific to the historical disciplines.
- Elements of knowledge related to the use of different types of sources in historical research and teaching.
- Analysis of world history from the nineteenth century to the beginning of the twenty-first, with particular emphasis on the history of Italy. Emphasis will be placed on a number of specific themes such as:
- process of construction of the national state in Italy;
- causes, development and outcome of the First World War;
- Characters and evolution of totalitarianism;
- causes, development and outcome of the Second World War;
- the bipolar world;
- Italy from the economic miracle to the end of the first republican era (1992-1994).
- Essential outline of the history of Sardinia in the twentieth century;
- Monographic course (L10).
For L-10 students, Contemporary History is a one-year course.

At the end of the course, a short written paper will be produced on topics to be discussed with the teacher.
