CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY
The exam can be carried out in a oral form or, optionally, in a mixed written/oral form. Students who choose the second option will take a written pre-exam that will focus exclusively on the handbook (1) and will consist of multiple choice questions and two open questions (three hours). The remaining texts will be examined in the next oral exam, according to the scheduled calendar.
The course aims to offer students the basic notions and tools of cultural anthropology, providing the analytical-interpretative and methodological keys of the discipline regarding historically typical fields of investigation (culture, race, kinship, gender, plurality of human forms of life) that deeply question contemporary global issues (globalization and local communities, multiculturalism and multilingualism, inequalities, migrations, environmental crisis, commodities and common goods etc.), crucial points for the training of a high professional profile expert in the field of education, communication and the media, territorial planning, and of the enhancement, safeguard and management of cultural and environmental heritage.
The first module (6 CFU) aims to offer students the basic knowledge of the demo-ethno-anthropological disciplines by introducing them to the main methods, fields, notions and perspectives of investigation of the twentieth century and today: the anthropological concept of Culture, ethnocentrism/cultural relativism, main authors and currents of the 20th century, ethnography and field research, the relationship between forms of human life and living environments, multiplicity of forms of social, political, economic and religious life, identity-otherness-ethnicity, race-racism, gender, migrations etc.

- the media (writing, audio, photography, video, etc.), the techniques of ethnographic documentation (diary, interviews, life stories, etc.) and the forms of textualization (diary, diagrams, articles and monographs, maps etc.)
