The objective of the "Chimica Generale" course is to provide basic knowledge relating to the structure of matter and its properties, the chemical bond and the principles governing chemical transformations. Basic knowledge of the chemical properties of the elements and their most important compounds are also provided.
An integral part of the course are the numerical exercises that allow the student to acquire the skills and competences to determine the quantity of products generated in the different chemical reactions, the composition of the solutions, the pH value.
The course aims to provide students with solid basic knowledge in chemistry, preparatory to the acquisition of advanced knowledge of organic and biochemistry and the understanding of a wide range of biologic phenomena.
