Objectives

The goal of this module is to give the student a basic knowledge of poisoning and toxic substances that affect pets and farm animals, prophylactic measures and the main treatment in case of poisoning.

Contents

Introduction: general concepts and terminology. Toxicokinetics and toxicodynamics. Toxic doses. Epidemiology of poisoning. Therapy and antidotism. Inorganic and organic compounds poisoning. Toxicology of pesticides. Toxic plants and mycotoxins. Animal venoms. Environmental and food toxicology. Doping in animals.
