MEDITERRANEAN TREE CROPS
Intermediate test based on a written examination. Oral presentation of a specific topic. Final oral exam
The course aims to provide basic knowledge, technical information, and advanced knowledge tools suitable to facilitate a continuous update and to enhance the student's understanding of the response of Mediterranean tree crops to environment and cultivation techniques. The educational goal is to develop the student's ability to absorb and transfer the innovative processes, in stand-alone and in group decision making, for the design and for a sustainable management of the tree crops.
On vine, olive and citrus will be enhanced the student's knowledge on the morphological and functional characteristics of the plant, on the life and the annual cycle, on the main physiological processes and on the relationships between genotypes and the Mediterranean environment,
Will be discussed the choice criteria to identify suitable climate and soil conditions useful for the crop site establishment, to evaluate the rootstocks, the varieties, the clones and the training systems, to design a plantation and to select the agronomic techniques suitable to improve quality using different approaches in crop management.
