At the end of the course the student knows the interrelationships that exist between the content of the basic sciences and the clinical sciences. The student understands the complexity that is typical of both the state of health and that of the sick person. The student knows the etiologic factors responsible for the alterations of cell function
and pathogenetic mechanisms of cellular and the molecular basis of disease processes. The student is also capable of
frame the pathological phenomena in relation to the interaction between etiologic factors and pathogenic mechanisms at the level of organs and systems.
At the end of the course the student knows the basic concepts of General Pathology necessary for the subsequent development of specific skills in the laboratoristic field. The student is able to use the
acquired knowledge for understanding the pathogenesis of disease and for the diagnosis of the same illnesses. In particular, the aim of the course is to describe the cellular, molecular, and functional mechanisms that are at the base of the general etiology of cellular adaptations, mechanisms of damage and cell death, inflammation, immunopathology and oncology, .
