ADVANCED PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY
Final oral exam
The course aims to provide to the students the fundamental knowledge concerning to the structure-activity relationships, mechanism of action, chemical-toxicological and synthesis of marketed drugs. To this end will be analysed the chemical-physical and stereo-electronic properties of drugs in relation to the therapeutic use and will be discussed the synthesis and their metabolism.
It is expected that the students acquire the basic knowledge for the chemical-structural study of the main classes of drugs and the capacity to discuss their mechanisms of action and structure-activity relationships.
- Drugs of the ANS: parasympathomimetics, parasympatholytic, sympathomimetic, sympatholytic.
- Drugs CNS: sedative-hypnotics, anticonvulsants, skeletal muscle relaxing, anti-Parkinson, antipsychotics, anxiolytics, antidepressants, hallucinogen-stimulants.
- Drugs used in the treatment of pain: NSAIDs, local anesthetics, general anesthetics, opioids, antigout.
- Cardiovascular and Renal Drugs: antihypertensives, vasodilators and antianginals, cardiotonics, antiarrhythmic agents, diuretics.
- Drugs for pulmonary diseases.
- Antihistaminic drugs.
- Antiulcer drugs
