Through the application of the basic concepts of Special Zootechnics, the student must acquire the appropriate information in order to exactly perform • the morphological evaluation and the identification of domestic animals; • the hygienic management of farms.
Body measurements and indices; morphological, functional and constitutional types. Parts and regions of the body. Animal mechanics: statics and kinematics; positions; plumb lines and defects; on site movements and methods of restraint; backward and inward movements; gaits and defects of gaits. Coats and particularities of coats. Age estimation in domestic animals. Identification of animals. Morphological and functional evaluation of domestic animals. Farm, coat and hoof hygiene.
