Module A: Computational Linguistics for Translation
By the end of the module, students should be able to :
a. understand the problems which arise in computational treatment of language particularly in the field of translation, and some of the methods used to address these problems;
b. discuss and write about the scope and the main notions of computational linguistics, and the ways in which the field relates to descriptive and theoretical linguistics.
Module B: Computational dictionaries and grammars
By the end of the module, students should be able to :
a. run specific NLP software packages, in particular for the development of computational lexica and grammars and analyse their output.
b. set up a development project of linguistic resources related to translation, evaluate results in an objective manner and write up their findings in a clear and well-reasoned way.
