The aim of the course is to acquire and develop methodological tools related to the field of 20th century's literary theory
The course will be dedicated to the main trends in twentieth-century literary theory. Lectures will provide a coherent overall context that incorporates philosophical and social perspectives on the recurrent questions. The accomplishments and failings of literary theory will be discussed through the studies carried out by Antoine Compagnon in his famous book "Literature, Theory and Common Sense", where he ultimately defends the methods and goals of a theoretical commitment tempered by the wisdom of common sense.
