Basic principles of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology are necessary to study biological subjects like Physiology as well as all other subjects (Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, etc.) dealing with interactions of biological systems with exogenous compounds, like drugs. The course of Biochemistry is aimed to give basic concepts necessary to understand biological processes al molecular level, turning attention particularly to structure and functions of biological macromolecules, as well as to the mechanisms by which living organisms utilize energy containing compounds.
