HISTORY OF THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE

The course aims to provide the students a historical and geographical profile of regional italian, with a focus on the regional variety of Sardinia, from spoken to literary use.
The course will offer a historical and geographical profile of regional italian, intermediate variety between dialect and italian. After defining the field of the discipline, it will draw a reasoned map of major characteristics of the different regions, and then reconstruct the history of italian regional language from the sixteenth century language issue to the recent history. Then we will focus on the regional variety of Sardinia, from spoken to literary use.
