The course is divided in two units: a) the studying of Spanish narrative from 1975, the Dictator's year of death, until now. The democratic Transition needed a new kind of writer who couldn't match the Social Realism writer nor the Experimental Novel writer. The Transition's novel will indeed be characterized by the reclaim of the theme and by the absence of a collective project. The course is intended for pointing out a series of tendencies which represent the novel of the period: detective, realist, intimate, experimental and historic novels; b) the analysis of the fundamental role of the woman in the contemporary narrative production through the reading of romances written by the most significant female writers such as Rosa Montero, María Dueñas, Julia Navarro and Alicia Giménez Barlett.
