ENGLISH LANGUAGE II
Two tests will have to be passed in the following order:
1. a written language test at the intermediate-level of the CEFR (language module);
2. an oral exam regarding a practical application of the concepts dealt with in the linguistics module (linguistics module).
The course is worth 12 credits and is divided into two parts:
a. a linguistics module (30 hours of face-to-face lectures) – 6 credits,
b. a language module (75 hours of face-to-face language lessons) – 6 credits.
If your course is worth 12 credits (Inglese come Lingua X = esame da 12 CFU), in your linguistics module you will learn the basic concepts of communication in tourist promotion, and will develop the knowledge required to analyze a tourism promotional text.
In the language module, lessons aim to develop oral and written communicative skills at the intermediate level.
If you are enrolled in Scienze del Turismo Culturale (Cultural Tourism Studies) and your course is worth 6 credits (Inglese come Lingua Y = esame da 6 CFU), you will only attend the language module.
The linguistics module will deal with the properties and characteristics of tourist communication in English; strategies and techniques of tourist promotion. Some texts will be analyzed in detail in class.
The language module aims at developing students' communicative skills in tourism at the intermediate level.
