Objectives

The student is required to be able to increase her/his critical understanding of the dimensions of planning, referring in particular to the problems of realism (are our theories/models true of reality?) and of the meaning of architectural communication (how are we supposed to individuate the "real" meaning of a bulding?).

Contents

- Permeability of perception to cognition, language and culture
- Realism and objectivity
- Sign, meaning, code in architecture
- Ontology and metaphysics of architectural and urban entities. Thought experiments.
