At the end of the course, students are expected to be familiar with the main ocular disorders, the differential diagnosis of "red eye", ambyopia, the role of the eye in the early diagnosis of important systemic diseases (i.e. multiple sclerosis, diabetes mellitus, thyrotoxicosis, collagenopathies, etc.), and the main surgical procedures in ophthalmology (keratoplasty, cataract surgery, retinal detachment surgery). Furthermore, students should develop suffcient knowledge to suspect important ophtalmic and neuro-ophthalmological emergencies, such as acute angle-closure glaucoma, central retinal aertery occlusion, intracavernal carotid artery aneurism rupture.
DETAILED KNOWLEDGE OF WOUND HEALING AND OF BASIC TECHNIQUES OF PLASTIC SURGERY AND THEIR APPLICATION IN TRAUMATIC, NEOPLASTIC, MALFORMATIVE AND AESTHETIC CONDITIONS IN THE FIELD OF PLASTIC SURGERY. THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE, ASSESS AND MANAGE PATIENTS WITH BURNS, SKIN TUMOURS, COMMON CONGENITAL MALFORMATIONS AND POSTMASTECTOMY RECONSTRUCTIONS, ALSO WITH THE APPLICATION OF ADVANCED, MICROSURGICAL AND MINI INVASIVE TECHNIQUES, ON THE BASIS OF EVIDENCE BASED MEDICINE AND GENDER MEDICINE.
The student will know the anatomy, physiology and functions of the skin and mucous membranes and the most frequent diseases : Bacterial, viral fungal and bullous autoimmune diseases;Dermatitis, Urticaria, Lichen ruber planus,Psoriasis, Acne; Drug reactions. The student acquires knowledge about the clinical and diagnostic aspects of melanocytic lesions and epithelial tumors
At the end of the course the student will know the main sexually transmitted infections, the clinical-diagnostic features, the differential diagnosis and the related therapies.
